Aruna Dindane headed to Monaco?
By: Xavier | August 15th, 2009
Following the match against Auxerre, President Gervais Martel flashed a big smile and announced that “Aruna is staying in France! And more precisely in Monaco.” I have to say that this is a sad day for those of us who are big Aruna fans but something had to be done. Lens could not continue to have a player of this quality languishing in the CFA and ultimately the club needs a midfielder and a defender.
President Martel will surely turn up the heat on bringing in either France international Camel Meriem or Lyon prospect Anthony Mounier. If Martel can land Meriem it would surely be considered a stunning coup that would immediately upgrade the club in a major way. However, the former Monaco captain is looking towards Spain so it may yet prove difficult to land the Franco-Algerian wizard.
Mounier on the other hand would likely come in the form of a loan deal from Lyon. Martel has been keen on acquiring Charles Kabore on loan from Marseille but coach Didier Dechamps has balked. The Lens President has said he would like to bring players in on loan due to the club’s current financial difficulties. Therefore, Mounier could be the man. The young Lyonnaise could help the club with his pace and passing but he is unproven and an already very inexperienced Lens side certainly needs veteran leadership. More to come….

Also, Guingamp’s Richard Soumah was present at the Bollaert today. The question is, was he there to watch his former teammate and friend Eduardo play or was he there to discuss a transfer deal with Martel?

I think Soumah will go to PSG, since the idiots at Lyon dropped his recruitment, even though they knew Mounier would be leaving. I hope Aulas loans him to Lens, because I can’t bear the thought of him going to Nice and that slimy M. Cohen. Remy wasn’t proven when he went to Lens either. Mounier needs playing time and he should be solid. And this thing: Aruna to Monaco has to be a joke! This is one case where I would be happy to see L1 talent go abroad. Insane.

Johnny, Why is Dindane going to Monaco a joke? It seems they ponied up a bit more CASH than Portsmouth and Tottenham. I would like to see Aruna stay at Lens but if he left, yes I would have liked to see him in the EPL but Monaco is not a bad move. Also, Wallemme just said that Mounier is not the player they are looking for. They are dying to get Meriem.

Dindane wanted England but it looks like these English teams arent willing to pony up the money like they used to especially for players who’ve been injury risks.

Thats correct Sportboy. The economy has ravaged world football. They can’t even get the Apertura underway in Argentina.

don’t worry, you can have him back when we get relegated.

It’s a joke in that it again highlights the financial abyss into which the club has been steered. And it’s sad for Aruna since he only wanted to move abroad and seemed happy to stay otherwise. Now that he’s been forced to play with the kids, and he has to move to another French side- which he didn’t want to- bec of the lowly financial state of the club. It works-out great for the club since they’re getting some kind of income from it, but maybe the English sides’ interest would’ve been more piqued if he were playing with the grown ups and showing that he’s back, or maybe that’s why he’s in the CFA, bec he isn’t; I don’t know. But forcing one of your best players who, to the best of my knowledge, hasn’t bitched at his situation, even made financial sacrifices to stay with the club during their spell in purgatory, and hasn’t tried to force a transfer, is a shame, financial desperation aside. End the end, I guess I’m happy that another L1 talent hasn’t fled, and that he’ll get a chance for much needed PT ahead of the ACN and WC.
More Jokes: Martel: “There’s one chance out of a thousand that he will go to AS Monaco. I haven’t had any contact with Monaco yet and really, either he will go abroad or he will be staying at Lens next season.”

Hahahaha. All good points Johnny. Remember this is Gervais’ world. I guess Mounier is headed to Lens after all. Since its a loan deal I guess they figured what the hell. It can only help. Now they can still go out and get the two position players they need. As for Aruna, I think that as he starts playing regularly an EPL club will try to snatch him up in the winter or possibly next season but it certainly seems like they have treated him badly. Aruna is such a nice, humble guy though, all he has is praise for what a “great man” Martel is. By the way I heard Martel’s book, “Fier d’être Lensois!” is being put on sale at the official Lens shop. hahahaha

Johnny, It looks like Olivier Thomert is going to either Portsmouth or Espanyol. PSG were looking to get him but It seems he wants to go abroad.

Rumors that they are looking into Yazid Mansouri of Lorient.

Yes Johnny I can confirm that the Mansouri rumours are out there. I don’t understand it though because although Mansouri is very solid. And he is also the captain of the Algerian team with the most caps of any of their players. He is therefore very experienced, which Lens needs. But he mostly features as a DMF. Lens needs more of a CMF or AMF.

Yeah, and it doesn’t make any sense that Lorient would let him go so late in the season. It has to be Meriem then.
I’m watching the highlights of the weekend play on TV5 Football! Awesome. They do the computer-generated replays of the goals, looks like a video game.
Boukari’s goal was awesome. You should see Erding’s goal. Reminded me when Jemaa turned Boumsong into a pretzel in the France-Tunisia friendly.Posted from

Yeah I hate to lose Sidi Keita. He is Lens’ toughest player in the midfield.

Yep our Man in Morocco M. Chamakh is staying put. The EPL clubs are not shelling it out like before with this economy

Economy. Wenger is acting like Harold Becker. Bordeaux probably would’ve accepted 10mill.

You need to change the destination in this post to Portsmouth: http://goal.com/en/news/9/england/2009/08/24/1457840/lens-agree-terms-with-portsmouth-for-aruna-dindane-transfer

From the Cesspool to the outhouse:
Gijon veut Itandje – 09:47 Lassé d’être sur le banc à Liverpool, Charles Itandje cherche un nouveau challenge. L’ancien gardien de but du RC Lens pourrait découvrir la Liga. Selon les informations de L’Equipe, le Sporting Gijon, qui débutera sa saison lundi contre le FC Barcelone, souhaite obtenir un prêt.
This dude should shoot himself or his agent for not taking the offer to be Coupet’s back-up at OL for a year. He’d be #1 for two years now and on the NT.

Johnny,
Yeah but the Liverpool scumbags lied to him about starting after the winter break. And that bumbling old drunk Guy Roux is also at fault. If it weren’t for him Itandje would not have left when he did. He was ready to start again for Lens until Roux brought his boy Runje and we all know how that ended. Relegation.
