Aruna signs for Portsmouth

Its official! Aruna Dindane finally gets his wish and is heading to the EPL. The Lens mega star will be heading to Fratton Park to play for an embattled Portsmouth side which has lost its first three matches of the league campaign and is in the throes of a protracted club sale.
The iconic Pompey side now features an extensive list of fine Ligue 1 talent. Aruna will be joining the likes of former Lens stars Papa Bouba Diop, Nadir Belhadj and John Utaka, as well as Younes Kaboul, Sylvain Distin and Frédéric Piquionne.
Moreover, the club is in advanced talks with former Lens stalwart Olivier Thomert who could sign by the weekend. An Aruna-Thomert reunion would bode well for the struggling side as the tandem was known to create magic playing side by side for several years at Lens.
The transfer is being reported as a three year, four million Euro deal. Lens had been asking anywhere in the range of six to eight million for the Ivory Coast international, but he was recently quoted on Skysports saying, “I want to play in the Premier League. My club wants me to go to Monaco but for me, it’s the Premier League or nothing. I’m 28 years old and it is my last chance to play in the best league with packed stadiums. They need to agree a fee with a Premier League club who has shown me they want me.”
Aside from Monaco, Portsmouth beat out Saint-Etienne, Blackburn, Fulham and Stoke City who were all in the running for Dindane’s services.
The deal opens the way for the potential signing of Camel Meriem who has been in advanced talks with Lens President Gervais Martel. French newspaper L’Equipe has reported that a deal could be concluded in the next few days.

I think losing Dindane but gaining Meriem will benefit Lens. They definitely have enough strikers and another midfielder, a french international at that, will really improve the side.
