Luigi Pieroni gone!….what a great relief.

By: Jay | February 2nd, 2008

It seems the good news keeps getting better for Lens fans, the dreadful Luigi Pieroni has finally been sent off, loaned to Anderlecht after having failed to do anything of significance with Lens.

The 27 year old Italo-Belgian international has switched clubs for the third time in a single year.

Pieroni is still under contract with Nantes oddly enough, but he was loaned to Lens when Les Canaris were relegated at the end of last season.

The Belgian has proved to be an utter disaster at the Stade Felix Bollaert, having represented the worst of the disasterous summer recruitng of Guy Roux and the Lens management.

Pieroni has now returned to his homeland five and a half years after having left the Jupiler league, and will finish the season with Anderlecht.

His contract includes an option for a permanent move once the season is over. Ironically the striker was linked to Middlesbrough last summer.

I am sure that is a distant dream for him at this point.

I remember when Auxerre brought him in after he scored a ton of goals in Belgium and he ended up being a disapointment there.
