Pathetic…..

All that can be said is that it has been very painful watching Lens play football this season. After losing our best players and two coaches many thought Jean-Pierre Papin would turn things around and it still may be so, but heretofore he has done a dreadful job and wednesday’s draw with Caen was his most miserable display to date.
There is not much to say about this pathetic performance other than it was extremely painful to watch. The first score came 77 minutes in and it was no surprise it came from the most talented Lensois Aruna Dindane as his beautiful header found the far post on a Yohan Demont cross. But the porous backline and weak midfield play hurt the blood and gold again and Jeremy Sorbon made them pay in the 86th minute when he headed home a deflected free kick from Nicolas Florentin.
Once again the most striking thing about the match was Papin’s dreadful squad selection. After finally giving Kevin Monnet-Paquet a start against Lorient he came out with his worst selection yet, playing all of the hasbeens and washouts that Lens has to offer. Yes, once again it was the Luigi Pieroni obsession upfront and he was accompanied by the likes of Fabien Laurenti, Olivier Monterrubio, Marco Ramos, the Croatian national team of Bisevac, Kovacevic and Runje etc., etc. etc.
It is quite obvious that Mr. Papin is not interested in developing the young talent. With the exception of Jonathan Lacourt he seems to be content with watching Lens’ best hope for the future rot on the end of the cold northern bench. How much longer will the Lens faithful have to endure the long faces of Monnet-Paquet, Boukari, Khiter, Feindouno and the rest of the young Lensois as they patiently await their due? And to anybody in the Pas de Calais region….where is Kanga Akale? Did he forget how to get to La Gaillette? I wonder what he did to Mr. Papin to deserve the treatment he is getting?
Well, as always there is the transfer period to hope for. And by the way, I hear Fabrice Pancrate may be on his way……Fabrice we need you!
