Relegation nears……

Another dreadful display from Jean-Pierre Papin’s men on saturday evening saw the northern giants move one step closer to the relegation zone.
Once again a terrible squad selection hampered the Lensois. The lack of talent on the pitch was not evident however in the first 15 minutes or so as it was the Aruna Dindane show in the early going and only a miracle save from Monaco keeper Flavio Roma saved the men from the rock as the Ivory Coast international broke free and launched a ferocious strike which was inexplicably parried by the Italian.
Jonathan Lacourt followed minutes later with a strong strike but that was all the side could muster and frankly with the glaring lack of talent on the pitch this was no surprise.
Coach Papin sported what I consider his worst squad to date fielding the likes of Fabien Laurenti, Julien Sable, Olivier Monterrubio, Milan Bisevac and other washouts. Meanwhile, Kader Mangane, Kanga Akale, Lucien Aubey, Mounir Diane and Kevin Monnet-Paquet had to watch from the comfort of the bench. Not to mention Razak Boukari and Sidi Keita which did not even make the selection. It seems Monnet-Paquet and Keita are destined to depart during the winter as many Lensois are growing impatient with Papin’s musical chair strategy of juggling the starting eleven every week.
It has become obvious by now that the club has no chance to nurture any semblance of continuity with this approach and it simply has not worked.
As for the game I simply cannot find the strength to analyze the dreadful comedy of errors on the pitch. I will say that Jeremy Menez and Le Bleu Frederic Piquionne were in fine form.
The only positive I could see from Lens was the fact that Eric Carriere actually got to start the match and saw extended action for the first time in a dreadfully long time. Welcome back Eric…….

Why is Monnet-Paquet, Boukair, Keita and Aubey starting every single match?!? Along with Akale, Sable and Carriere it would be a strong team, with Monterrubio and Mangane as strong subs. Papin may have lost it, or is it Lens who have lost it with three coaches in a short time after narrowly missing out on the CL last season?
